Returns Policy and Process

At Brownells, we aim to make the return process as simple, fast, and hassle-free as possible. If you purchase an item and later decide it’s not for you, we’ll gladly accept returns, with a few exceptions. Here’s everything you need to know:

Returns Overview

  • Proof of Purchase: To initiate a return, please provide proof of purchase. Only the original account holder or purchaser may return an item.
  • Return Timeframe: Items returned within 45 days of shipment are eligible for a full refund to the original method of payment. Returns made after 45 days will be issued a Brownells Gift Card.
  • Refund Method: If the original payment method is no longer available (e.g., expired credit card), your refund will be issued as a Brownells Gift Card.
  • Condition of Returned Items: Items must be returned in their original packaging and in unused condition(unless defective). We reserve the right to decline returns for items that do not meet these standards.

What’s Not Eligible for Return?

Certain items cannot be returned for safety, legal, or regulatory reasons. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Ammunition, gunpowder, primers, and hazardous materials.
  • Firearms and FFL purchases: These carry manufacturer warranties; please contact the manufacturer directly for issues with these products.
  • Modified or altered items, including 80% frames and receivers that have been altered.
  • Items subject to federal, state, or local restrictions are also not eligible for return.

How to Return an Item

Returning an item to Brownells is easy! Follow these steps to ensure a smooth and efficient return process:

  1. Start a Return Online:

    • Log into your account and go to Order History.
    • Select the order you wish to return and click the Return Items button.
  2. Prepare Your Return:

    • Securely pack your item in the original packaging (if possible).
    • Include a copy of your original invoice.
    • Affix the provided return shipping label to the package, ensuring no other tracking labels are visible.
  3. Shipping Your Return:

    • Drop the package off with your mail carrier or at your nearest post office.
    • For Brownells-provided return labels, you can schedule a free pick-up at your convenience.

Return FAQs

Q: What products can’t be returned? A: Items such as ammunition, gunpowder, primers, liquids, and hazardous materials are non-returnable. Firearms and serialized items are subject to manufacturer’s warranties and must be handled directly through the manufacturer for defects. Modified items, including 80% frames and receivers, are not returnable.

Q: How long do I have to return an item? A: You can return items within 45 days of shipment for a refund. After 45 days, returns are issued as store credit in the form of a Brownells Gift Card.

Q: When will I receive my refund? A: Refunds are typically processed within 7-10 business days once the return is received. The refund will be for the item(s) returned, along with any applicable taxes. Shipping and other fees are non-refundable.

Q: Can I return a firearm purchased online? A: All firearm and serialized item sales are final once the item is transferred to the customer through an FFL. If there’s an issue with a new firearm post-purchase, the manufacturer’s warranty will apply. Defective items must be handled directly with the manufacturer.

Q: Can I return an item I received as a gift? A: Refunds require proof of purchase. If the item was a gift, you’ll need the purchaser’s account information for a return.

Q: Can I return items purchased online to a retail store? A: Yes, you can return online orders to a physical store. Please bring your invoice with you. Refunds will typically be processed within 7-10 business days and may take that long to reflect in your account.

Firearm (FFL/NFA) Returns

  • New Firearm Sales: All sales of new firearms and serialized items are final. Once a firearm is transferred to your name, no returns will be accepted.

  • NFA Sales: NFA items (National Firearms Act items) cannot be canceled, returned, or refunded once ATF Form 4paperwork has started. If a return is accepted, a $50 restocking fee will apply.

  • Firearm Defects: If a defect is found after the firearm transfer, you must contact the manufacturer directly for a replacement or repair. It’s essential to inspect all firearms thoroughly before completing the transfer at your FFL.

Shipping and Handling

  • Shipping Issues: Once a package ships, it cannot be rerouted to a different address. Restocking and shipping feeswill apply for orders returned due to address issues.
  • Shipment Attempts: The carrier will make three delivery attempts. After the third attempt, the package will be returned to sender. If the package is returned, you may be subject to restocking fees and must pay for reshipping.

Regulatory Compliance

By ordering a firearm or serialized item, you certify that you meet all federal, state, and local requirements. Firearm purchases are subject to age restrictions (18+ for rifles/shotguns, 21+ for handguns) and applicable state laws. Please ensure your local laws allow you to purchase and receive firearms before placing an order.
